Starting in 1961, Maurice Lacroix watches watches began as a small privately owned business. Maurice Lacroix was not officially recognized as a true watch manufacturer until 2001. Maurice Lacroix began in 1961 in Saignelegier, which is a municipality of the Canton of Jura in Switzerland. Over the next 14 years the company grew from a private distributor in Switzerland to launching their first model in Austria. After the acquisition of Austria as a new client of Maurice Lacroix watches, many other countries soon followed suit. In 1976 the watches were introduced in Spain, while in 1980 a distribution company was set up in Germany. Throughout the years of 1976 to 1987, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Great Britain and Australia all became new targets for Maurice Lacroix. In 1989 Maurice Lacroix then gained the location in Saignelegier as a permanent casing company.
After success in several different countries and an influx of profit, the company was able to secure a permanent casing facility in Saignelegier. With this acquisition Maurice Lacroix would be able to maximize income and use such profits to expand into more countries. Maurice Lacroix used the abilities of their new facility to expand their clientele to the international level.
Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and Hong Kong soon found themselves with their own distribution network of Maurice Lacroix watches in 1989 and 1990. The Near and Middle East soon saw a growing market for the watches as well. With such a growing international popularity, Maurice Lacroix again improved and renovated their facilities in Saignelegier.
Saignelegier was once again expanded upon in the early to mid 1990′s and continued to be one of the most modern watch manufacturing facilities in the world. In 1995 the United States was opened as a brand new market for the watches. With such an increasing demand worldwide, Maurice Lacroix would go through a series of renovations and an increase in production output of the next few years.
In order to keep up with the worldwide demand, facilities at Saignelegier were forced to expand in 1999 for the second time. Shortly after, in 2001 Maurice Lacroix became its own legal entity and improved and expanded facilities once again. The manufacturer soon sought to grow outside of the founding location of Saignelegier within the proceeding years.
Great Britain was bestowed the honor of its own subsidiary in 2002. Four years later, in 2006, the company had acquired all the necessities to become an exclusive manufacture brand. In 2008 Maurice Lacroix made history by introducing the first mechanical watch with a memory function, the Memoire 1.
With such a rich history of progression, Maurice Lacroix mens watch can now be seen among the elite Swiss manufacturer brands with its headquarters based in Saignelegier.
