flawed masterpiece,
I owned a previous citizen ecodrive perpetual which I loved but decided to upgrade to this model for it’s radio controlled accuracy. Good news is watch looks great and has many fine features like showing two time zones simultaneously and quick way to switch main time display between the two zones. Bad news is on my watch radio updates totally fail wherever you are yet my £30.00 casio works fine and has never failed to receive an update once in 3 years. I will take this back and update my review should this prove to be a one off. Other flaws are you could happily lose the 24 hour and utc display and leave space to make remaining digital displays easier to read and introduce a display for day date and month, which you can’t view at the same time as the second world time display. Also manual time changing as required during absence of radio signal is very awkward unlike non radio controlled citizens. All that aside I hope with repair/replacement that I will review my stance and rate this watch as well as it looks. The features if all available are the bees knees and citizen as ever are the best watchmaker in the world. I have a soft spot for mechanical watches but even the legendary watchmaker john harrison if alive today would want a citizen for sheer accuracy and functionality, although it is less beautiful than his creations.

The last watch you’ll ever need!,
This watch is absolutely beautiful! (and the pictures really don’t do it justice)
I don’t plan on ever needing to buy another watch ever again, so I didn’t mind paying a little more than most people would spend on a time piece.
The Promaster Carbon does not need batteries, the strap is stainless steel and very well made (with the additional peace of mind of a security clasp) and is accurate due to the atomic time signal (which comes from Germany if you’re in Europe)
When the clocks recently adjusted from Winter to Summer I didn’t even have to think about winding it forward as I’ve had to do with every other watch I’d previously owned. This had done it for me while I slept!
It actually will check the Atomic signal upto 3 times a day (but only if you miss the first signal at 2am) you can also set it to manually collect the signal at any time.
It’s not a light watch, but when I chose this it was between this and the Skyhawk AT Titanium, but the Skyhawk just felt a little “Cheep” as there was no weight to it. The Promaster uses the same mechanism as the Skyhawk series, but without the complicated Sliderule which most people would not use anyway.
The face of the Promaster Carbon is a little less “Busy” than the Skyhawk’s as well, and in the end this was what lead me to going for this over them.
I’m very pleased with my purchase.
Whichever Citizen AT series Ecodrive watch you go for, you are unlikely to be disappointed with it.
Just put it on and never worry that you don’t have the exact right time ever again!
