Easy on the wrist AND survived being put in the wash!,
As Swatches go, this one is pretty nice looking – the silver bezel is tasteful, although it’s still not quite classy, because there’s too much plastic and the leather (?) strap is thin and loses its black tan very quickly in parts.
But it’s the design of the watch that really makes it a bit special. I wondered at first if having such a thin casing was just a bit of a gimmick, but it makes a big difference for two reasons. First, you’ll never get it caught up in your shirt. Second, because it’s so light and thin, it means that even if you wear it a bit loose, it never feels uncomfortable, never flaps around on your wrist even if you move it suddenly or energetically (ie when playing a racket sport). This also solves the problem of when one hole in the strap leaves it too loose on the wrist, but the next one leaves it too tight. I’m guessing that’s the kind of good design that, if you found it on an Omega or Rolex, would cost you about a grand more (though neither of those brands seems likely to go along with a less-is-more design philosophy). With Swatch, it seems to cost about 30 quid more – a reasonable premium worth paying, in my view – though bear in mind it makes it twice as expensive as the cheaper models.
And if that were not a sufficient recommendation, I accidentally left it in the pocket of a top I put in the wash, and it still, several days on, hasn’t missed a beat! That is probably worth the price-tag alone.
Just a couple of things to bear in mind. First, it has no seconds hand and no date, so it’s very minimal. It still ticks every now and then, though, as the minute hand moves round the dial, and is slightly louder than I at least would like. Second, because it’s quite slender, it’s great for thin wrists like mine, but I’m not sure how it would look on thicker wrists.
So, if you want a very comfortable, understated and excellently designed watch, and you’re the type of person who might accidentally put it in the wash, then this is the one for you!

Swatch watch,
We ordered this watch for our daughter’s birthday. It came the day after we ordered so that was impressive.
She had seen it on the internet, along with many others, and really liked it so she was very pleased to recieve it.
It was exactly as described, and so far she’s still as pleased as she was the day she got it.
