If you own a diamond such as a 0.74 carat round brilliant cut loose diamond, how do you find out about its clarity?

A diamonds clarity is an important aspect to the worth of that diamond, its important for you to know how to grade the clarity of a diamond which you are interested in buying. Now learning how to grade the clarity of a diamond isnt as hard as it may sound. The two main categories that the clarity of a diamond is determined are by visual blemishes and a term called eye clean. Visual blemishes are inclusions and blemishes that can be seen with the naked eye. Eye Clean means exactly what you think, that there are no blemishes which can be seen with the naked eye. Then a more accurate valuation is obtained by these two categories being further broken down into more grading subcategories.

A common misunderstanding about the clarity of a diamond is that clarity actually means how clear the stone is… this misunderstanding is just not true. The external and internal imperfections of the stone is what actually the clarity of the diamond means. The top grade of diamonds are Flawless or Internally Flawless, often abreviated to FL or IF. This means the stone is perfect with no flaws. An imperfect diamond will have a grade of I-1, I-2 or I-3, the grade I-3 is the worst grade of diamond you can have.

Other grades of diamonds which you will need to keep a look out for or which you may have already noticed are the grades of VVS1 and VVS2. This means the diamond has very, very slight imperfections. Very slightly imperfect diamonds have a VS1 or VS2 grading, slightly imperfect diamonds have a SI-1 or SI-2 grading.
