Maurice Lacroix began in 1961 in Saignelegier, which is a municipality of the Canton of Jura in Switzerland. Maurice Lacroix saw the acquisition of several other countries among their clientele within the years of 1976 through 1987. Spain, Australia, Great Britain, Germany and the Netherlands were the next countries to purchase their products after Austria.

With such facility improvements, the manufacturer was soon able to claim one of the most up to date facilities of watch manufacturers of the time. These new facilities and economic uprising allowed Maurice Lacroix to seek international clients.

Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and Hong Kong soon found themselves with their own distribution network of Maurice Lacroix watches in 1989 and 1990. The Near and Middle East soon saw a growing market for the watches as well. With such a growing international popularity, Maurice Lacroix again improved and renovated their facilities in Saignelegier.

Saignelegier was once again expanded upon in the early to mid 1990′s and continued to be one of the most modern watch manufacturing facilities in the world. In 1995 the United States was opened as a brand new market for the watches. With such an increasing demand worldwide, Maurice Lacroix would go through a series of renovations and an increase in production output of the next few years.

The Saignelegier facilities were renovated once again in 1999 in an attempt to keep up with the worldwide demand for their products. In 2001, Maurice Lacroix was able to officially claim to be a sole legal entity while it was previous seen as a division of another company. Soon enough Maurice Lacroix looked to expand the facilities at Saignelegier once again.

In 2002, a subsidiary was founded in the nation of Great Britain. The year 2006 saw Maurice Lacroix finalizing the steps needed to become a solely manufacturing brand. The Memoire 1 was launched in 2008 and was said to be the first mechanical watch with a memory function.

With its headquarters in Saignelegier, Maurice Lacroix ladies watches are now classified among the elite Swiss manufacturers. For years their mens wrist watch have been seen as stylish and intricate.
