Kintaro Hattori launched Seiko in 1881 in the Ginza region of Tokyo, Japan. On August 28th 1953 at 7pm, Seiko was crowned very first Television advertiser using an advertisement for the Seiko noisy alarms on Japanese channel, Nihon Television (currently NTV).
